Why I have applied for the BA (Hons) Filmmaking course

I wasn't able to make it to any of the open days that took place, but I did travel up from Kent to have a look around the campus on a weekday. However I wasn't shown around the actual university, I had a good look round the grounds and everything that surrounded the University and the things that the town offered.

I have applied for this course because I really liked the sound of the course in the prospectus. It sounds very professional and as the grades are quite high to get in, it seems like a challenge that I am willing to take on and show my work to the best of my ability and meet the grades that you are asking for. The facilities and the equipment that is offered to the students sounds like a brilliant way to come to grips with what the industry is working with now, and so when looking for a job we can state that we have knowledge of how to use certain cameras and media equipment that they are looking for people to be able to use.

Another reason, but only a minor one, is that one of my favourite actors who I inspire so much, went to Manchester University, and although it isn't the same one, he said that the town really gave him inspiration on how to produce a film and act in it. This person was Benedict Cumberbatch and he has come so far in life and he really inspires me in everything that he does. But also, Manchester as a whole is a really beautiful place, and there is lovely scenery in which you can make into really good settings for a film, using the correct lighting.

Overall, I love everything to do with media and would love to be considered to be part of the student life at Manchester Metropolitan university to further my education in filmmaking.
